The history of Grupel began on January 7, 1976, when the company was founded by José Reis da Conceição de Oliveira Melo and Maria de Fátima Gregório Melo. Initially, the company’s activities focused on the manufacturing and sale of generator sets. Over the following decades, Grupel invested in modernizing its production processes, expanding its manufacturing capacity, and strengthening its international presence.
Following its integration into Omnisantos Group in 2008, Grupel accelerated its growth through investments in new technologies, strategic acquisitions, and the construction of a modern manufacturing facility in Vagos. The company expanded its presence in international markets, established a network of more than 50 distributors, and reinforced its position as one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of generator sets.
